Tis' the Season for Apple Squeezin'

Anyone? Is there anyone out there? There must be someone out there that understands the crisis that is happening among us.... that's right people, it's the amount of selfish, non-caring young Americans. Yeah I said it! I'm going on a mini rant here, but all I want in the end is a little selfless service. Tis the season, so why not, just for a month, try something out of the ordinary, and do something nice for someone. Now that I've succeeded in totally throwing you guys a curve ball, here are some deli delights to help you marinate on it.

The Velvet Underground- Rock n Roll (Gigamesh remix)

Soulwax- Tour de Eleanour Rigby

And I wanted to throw these guys into the mix because, so far they are my favorite artists on the Ultra Music Fest bill. Gotta Love it!

It Ain't Cold Enough To Stop Rockin'

Ok, so I'm gunna keep the rock n roll on shuffle because the fact is that this stuff just never gets old. It's rare when you come across a really, truly good soundtrack, and though it has taken a while for me to catch on, I have fallen in love with the Pirate Radio soundtrack. One good thing about music, is when it hits you feel no pain, and Bob Marley could not have said it better. It's just plain good music, but the best part is that it comes free with a pic of miss beautiful swimming in that dirty water! It's 36 track album jam packed full of some of your favorite songs, and I already went ahead and picked a couple of songs I thought you guys might enjoy. Sooo Enjoy and Stay Strong!

David Bowie- Let's Dance

The Hollie- I'm Alive

Little Wine, maybe a Little Rock...

It's that time of the season folks when we get down on some good 'ol fashioned rock 'n roll. The Freezer is stock full of appetizers, seafood, poultry and what not, but I just found some rock music that has been marinating since April. So since we are all about the business around here, let's get right to it. This salad bowl is sure to spark something, because i don't want you guys to ever forget just good music.

Guglielmo Marconi, 1876

Like my friend in the picture I am bored to death of today's music. The radio needs to be revamped with an injection of some hip youth. I know I've been slacking on my blogging duties, but I promise to bring the hits a lot more this time around. FreezerJams has actually entered it's second year of existence, and with a full head of steam I will make sure whatever your ears want to hear I will provide. Now this means I need a little involvement, so drop a damn line for once! And since I've been away for too damn long I decided to post enough music to make up for it. Now back to the broiler, cuz I got some hot jams for you.... no toast required.

Dragonette- Easy (Fabian Remix)

Aeroplane vs. Friendly Fires vs. Flight Facilities- I Crave Paris

The Zombies- Time Of The Season (DJ Cobra Remix)

The Power of a Blender

I feel like this picture captures a feeling that a lot of people go through. The feeling where nothing in your life is going right, problems just keep building up until they're all mixed up into one GIGANTIC problem. The blender issue (as I like to call it) puts way too much stress on people and some times they just need to chill out, pour that drink, spark up whatever that is your puffin and listen to some easy beats. The photo above was taken by the lovely and talented Kelly Latos, my little tenderoni. Ms. Latos is a very talented artist so make sure to show her some love at her website.

Now for those easy beats. Hailing from the UK, Clause Four has been invading my eardrums lately. The 80's Dam Funk thing he's got going on is perfect for the mood that I've been in lately. With influences from other Stone's Throw artists, you can tell this dude has some serious skills. There's not a whole lot of info out there on Clause Four, so your welcome for the heads up on this mysterious artist. Big up's to Busy P for passing the knowledge to me. If you enjoy this tracks, check out the whole EP.

Cut, Copy, and Paste

Today's post is on a band hailing from Australia, and I'm sure many of you are already familiar with them due to the success of their last album In Ghost Colours, but as many of you may not know Cut Copy has a new album coming out, and I got a couple rough cuts coming your way. But I also want to add Chromeo to this hot bowl of chili. Chromeo and Holy Ghost! are playing @ The Masquerade in ATL, and me the boys will be hitting the road tomorrow mourning for a weekend of electronica, dancing, and soul food. We don't normally drive to far from the nest, but certain occasions call for certain actions, sooo.......wish us luck!

Whats Jamaican?

Formerly known as Poney Poney, Jamaica is the next hottest thing to come out of Paris. Their debut album, No Problem, was produced by Xavier de Rosnay of Justice. Having said that, Jamaica is a grunge rock band with that classic Justice kick drum. I Think I Like U is one of their popular singles that you may know that was released a little bit ago. Catchy lyrics, radical tune. Secrets is one my other favs off of the album...actually the whole album rocks with killer electric riffs and lyrics that make you wanna sing along (even if you don't know them).

Straight from the Motor City

I just got back from a trip to Detroit, MI....and I come bearing gifts! It's something a little different that you would expect from Detroit rock city, but you can still hear the soul of the city throughout the song. The band is Desktop and they have a new EP dropping soon, so in anticipation here's an early appetizer.

PBR Breath

To me, nothing complements rock n' roll better than an ice cold beer. I don't think it gets much classier than good ole fashion PBR. Nothing complements a PBR better than Jacksonville Beaches own, DarkHorse Saloon. Following the footsteps of other local band BLORR, DHS offers the crowd that throbbing, pulsating rock n' roll (as they like to describe it) that gets everybody and their mothers shakin'. With an EP due out soon, DHS just released their first music video that was locally filmed, directed and produced. Be sure to check it out and show the guys some love at their myspace or facebook page.

P.S.-our buddies BLORR have been busy recording as well so make sure to check their new stuff as well. Support these rock n' roll pioneers of Jax Beach.

Just stumbled upon this new band from Milwaukee, Jaill. The discovery of a new artist has to be top 5 best feelings of all time! Am I not right? I felt compelled to immediately do a post because I can't stop playing their song "The Stroller". Apparently they are signed to Sub-Pop and it's a good thing because these guys got a hit on their hands...

Supergrass Sandwich Anyone?

In light of the rock n roll show that is going on tonight, I wanted to share some of my favorite songs that help me get ready for the big night. These are not arena rock ballads that you can purchase off the tv for like $10. These are the underlying cuts people. The essentials. Put the headphones on, or immediately burn these four songs to a cd, hop in the car and turn the stereo up because this is just plain 'ole good rock n roll music. First up, we have the English 90s rock band Supergrass, followed by a side project The Hot Rats, formed by Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey. Then the local boys The Black Lips, followed by White Denim. And if you are still with us by the last cut then you truly do love your rock music because I ended it with Supergrass. You could call it a musical sandwich.

Supergrass- In It For The Money
The Hot Rats- Damaged Goods
The Black Lips- Take My Heart
White Denim- Mess Your Hair Up
Supergrass- Sun Hits The Sky

A-Trak has been a very busy man this year from projects such as Travis x A-Trak, where him and Travis Barker continuing the tradition of live drums and DJs (like DJ AM and Travis originally started). Duck Sauce is one of A-Trak's other projects that is popin' off right now. It's a collaboration of him and Armand Van Helden. Lately I have been lovely these DJs that team up together and get their creative juices mixed together. Duck Sauce has recently made stops at WMC, SXSW, and Electric Daisy Carnival. They have this disco house sound that is very refreshing and really gets you moving, and boy do I love my disco.

Strange Weather, Isn't It?

Oh man, I'm really excited about this post because it's new music from one of my favorite bands, !!!, and it just so happens to be my big sis birthday. So happy bday Ash and lets get on with the music. That's right Chk Chk Chk's new album is coming out in August, but guess who got a hold of a couple of new tracks? The new album is funky as ever, with bass lines for days. If you can't get down to these guys then you must have trouble hearing. I can't get enough of their stuff, with funky dance beats and punk guitar. They even mix in some really beautiful horns, overall their sound is infectious, and I give it two thumbs up. So let's get down and dirty on a birthday!

North Station

As the week slowly comes to an end, I can see the weekend on the horizon. No, I don't have any big plans this weekend but to blast music in the batcave, including this little slice of perfection I have for you today. The collaboration of DJ Mehdi and Riton gives us the super-group Carte Blanche. With a 5 track EP set to be out soon, Carte Blanche will be touring around the world includiong a stop in sunny Florida (I know crazy right). They will be throwing this party in Tampa on June 22 at Czar. This song makes me wanna go to an underground funk party and dance all night. In fact, that is exactly what takes place in the music video, which is exactly how I want to have my birthday party. Enjoy!

I've grew up listening to rock, but always loved to dance. So I'm always caught in this musical dilemma between rock and dance, but luckily for you I woke up on the bluesy side of the bed. Hello Again Summer, You Were Missed

Summer is upon us, finals are over and its time for some funky tunes and cold beers. Without the added stress of papers and exams you should expect more music and updates on local events to attend here in sunny Jacksonville Beach. In fact, tomorrow night there will be a premiere release party for the new VOID Magazine. There will a free show at Roc Bar featuring DarkHorse Saloon and BLORR which is a guaranteed partay. I will be interviewing DHS, showing the men behind the mustaches. Should be a good time with beautiful people.

Now for the music. What better to start the summer off with than The Beach Boys. I have for you a couple of remixes of Beach Boy jams that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Two of which happen to be dance remixes that put a different spin to the classics. The other one is from Bullion's Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee, a Beach Boys/J-Dilla mash-up album. So crack open a cold one, get the lawn chair out and go outside and enjoy the day.

Why Can't We Make More Music Like This

This post is dedicated to my father whose birthday is tomorrow. Everything I know about music I owe to my dad. I grew up listening to rock n roll, specifically 60s garage, with my dad. He'd constantly would be teaching and quizing me on various bands, guitarist, and songs. Bands from this era rarely get thier time in the spotlight anymore and I think we ought to show some respect to this awesome period in rock history, where some of the greatest bands joined to create that oh so familiar sound. A sound that is rooted in the blues, and electrified with lyrics about love and freedom. Their are many bands that came out of the 60s, but these bands I believe truly capture the message I'm trying to convey.......which is, TURN UP THE AMP AND LET'S ROCK! Happy Birthday Dad.

Hello human beings, I hope everyone of you had a wonderful weekend. I come bearing a very special gift today from the oh so talented dj's, The Twelves. As I hope you know, The Twelves are known for their live dj sets which involves them actually playing instruments such as the bass and synth. Here they are giving us a great disco remix of Two Door Cinema Club's Something Good Can Work. This remix will be featured on the new Kitsune Compilations album due out April 26th. So make sure you check out the mini-mix on their myspace and if you dig that, preorder the dam thing. I'm So Down With This Collab

I'm not even gunna lie, when I first saw these songs on hypem I knew they were going to be instant dancefloor magic. Of course you all know who Chromeo is by now, if u don't then u are in for a real treat, but when they collaborate Yuksek it becomes something more. The lyrics are spot on and add so much more flavor to the song. I can't stop playing it....nuff said. The second song is also a little strawberry shortcake for yer ears, but this one is a great remix of the australian duo, Cut Copy, with some Chromeo icing. Their is a perfectly good reason why I have been slacking on the post and it's because I've been doing a lot of recording. My friend Nate and I have been getting together ever Friday to make some music, and what started out to be a jam session, turned into a six hour electrofide audio war. It's Been A While

Ok ok, I know it's been a while, but give me a break. I had midterms, and then that ran directly into our spring break. I didn't completely waste my time though because I recorded some fresh tracks and maybe, just maybe, you guys will get to check them out. Back to the music though! I got a new jam from the electro/hip-hop group The Glitch Mob. I saw these guys last year in Chicago and really enjoyed their set, so let me know what you think about this trio from California. Goin On and On, Like a Broke Record

I can remember when I was a little tyke, I would always wonder what it would be like to be black for a day. I always pictured myself with some fresh jerry-curls. Maybe looking a little like Pinky from Next Friday or Rick James. There were also those days where I pictures myself as the fliest b-boy in all of New York. Rockin' the jumpsuit and all. Anyways, back to the post. In honor of February being Black History month, I present to you Black Element. A hip-hop lyricist hailing from Boston, Mass area, Black Element mixes soulful samples and smooth beats which in my book equals mad respect. You definitely won't see this cat sippin' syrup on MTV with Lil' Wayne or autotunin' with T-Pain, he's got too much skills for that. So take some time and check out a couple of his tracks. If you really like them, you can check out his myspace and download his album for free (I repeat for free).

This band from Belgium, known as The Black Box Revelation, is just what an indie/garage rock fan needs. BBR comes at a perfect time because the art of wailin' into a microphone while simultaneously playing fuzzy guitars has been lost for the moment. Super Bowl time.....SWEETNESS

In honor of Super Bowl Sunday being tomorrow, I decided to do a throwback post. In 1985 when Da Bears went to the Super Bowl they released The Super Bowl Shuffle. The Bear's Shufflin' Crew feature the likes of Jim McMahon, William "Refrigerator" Perry, and of course "Sweetness" Walter Payton. The song takes you back to a time of sweatbands, high tops and Ditka. So make sure on Sunday somewhere between the shitty bud light commercials and the halftime performance by The Who that you pay tribute to this football anthem. For if it wasn't for the Shuffle, where would football be today>?

Kick Push

We sometimes get a little carried away here in the kitchen, and we tend to get lost in the dance music. So consider this post my apology, and hopefully I can make up for it with some fresh new jamz. The first one coming off the debut album from Blakroc, "Coochie" features Ludacris and the late great 'Ol Dirty Bastard. If you are not familiar with Blakroc, it is basically Dan Auerbach & Patrick Carney of The Black Keys laying down some sweet bluesy/guitar beats. Yes thats right Hip Hop! The Black Keys are known for thier blues-rock sound, but on this album they team up with some Hip-Hop legends to produce an absolute must listen for the newbies out there. We did a post last year on the album before it came out, so here is a little taste of what you've been missing. The second track comes off Raekwon's newest album Onle Built for Cuban Linx II. The song "Black Mozart" is produced by none other that the RZA. So sit back, get your dutchmasters ready, and don't forget to check out WellFed Boy @ UNF Skatepark on Feb. 20th. And if you can't make it during the day, the after party is @ Landshark Cafe. See you there...

We'll Pay the Toll Charge

With a lot of hype surrounding this South London based band, it makes it really easy to talk about Chew Lips' newest single "Play Together". This song is a combination one of the heaviest, most beautiful songs I've heard in a while. I can't get enough of the breakdowns, and seriously heavy synths coupled with an absolute beautiful voice from singer Tigs. The boys are Will Sanderson and James Watkins, and these guys lay down some awesome dance-pop jamz. Thier new album, Unicorn, comes out next week, so keep your eyes peeled for that Kitsune release. If your in the Austin, TX area in March, look for Chew Lips at the infamous SXSW. For everyone else, like me, that can't make the trip, you will just have to cross your fingers. The second song "Toro" is a little bonus, but don't tell anyone I told you.

I Believe I was Returning Video Tapes

Happy New Year Kids. I am back again after another hiatus from my writing duties for reasons that title of the post already explains. I expect to be back to my normal schedule of posts which will include some funky vinyl rips of some gems that I got while on my break. Today I will talk about an awesome house DJ known as Fake Blood. Fake Blood had an outstanding year in the 2009 club scene as well as releasing Fix Your Accent (which everyone one of you should buy). Not only was the album magical but the remixes put out were just as eardrum friendly. Here are some of my favorite remixes including the likes of The Kills and Miike Snow as well as the single from the album. **Warning to Listeners: Listen at loud volume and turn that bass up**

I found this photo online the other day and I thought it was amazing, because rarely do you get to see the Joker doing a kickflip over Batman in downtown Gotham City. To go with the photo I bring some New Year's dance songs. There are those songs that you hear and you can't possibly stop the urge to just break out into a smooth foot shuffle. Well I can't fight the urge when I listen to these songs, so you just try too.
