Dead Weather on Christmas...How Beautiful!

Sorry I missed ya guys over xmas, I had no quality internet reception. But I do now have the necessary resources, and here is a quick one from The Dead Weather. I love Jack White and I love that he doesn't sing much with this band, and he has a totally sexy lead singer Alison Mosshart.(from The Kills) The Kills were on tour opening for The Raconteurs a year or so back, and Jack White came down with a cold. He invited Alison to sing some of thier songs in place of Jack, and the rest is history. I particularly like these B-sides off thier debut release Horehound. Let me know what your thinking.

Take Your Shoes off and Lie Down

After taking a short hiatus from my writing duties, due school and finals and such, I'm Back. What I have for you today is someone who got me through these last couple of weeks, In Flagranti. A few genres come to mind when describing In Flagranti, some of which include disco and punk. Known for their vintage videos to go along with songs and 70's porn models for CD covers, In Flagranti reminds me of a crazy disco rave in an underground New York club sometime in the 70s. If you don't believe me then listen to some of their tunes.

Hey Champ is in the Winner's Circle

So I'm just about knee deep in finals week here, so what better way to take a break than bring you some good news from an old post.I did one of my first post a couple of months back on Hey Champ, and I'll tell ya they haven't slowed down since. The Chicago natives are back with some more booty shaking dancefloor music, and let me tell you these remixes are pure gold. Of course I wouldn't be bringing such great music without some great news. The boys from Hey Champ decided that since they do so many great songs they might as well put it all in one place for us. And they did, its called Winners Circle and if you can get your hands on a copy you won't regret it. I saw these guys at Lollapalooza in August and their live stuff is even better that the DJing. So check out thier myspace and blog for updates and get down to Hey Champ...

Pick up the Phone, It's BB

Since BB kicks off the North American leg of his tour I thought it would be appropriate to give my brother his long overdue post. That's right he is a part of the family, and I'll try not to be too bias, but the man can crank out some great music. Having just got married last month and a baby on the way, Brendan Benson comes to the other side of the pond to remind us of how rock music can still have a personal connection in our everyday lives. His voice is American and his songwriting speaks from the heart, making instant impressions on all of his fans. Having just released his 4th studio album, My Old Familiar Friend, BB continues to evolve as a musician and songwriter. I urge everyone to pick up a copy of the new album, and if you like what you here you can get his earlier album here.(personally I think they are a stable in any music lover's collection) Growing up in Detroit, MI and now living in Nashville, Brendan's music is deeply rooted in the rock city and I think it shows. The first song is a live version of a B-side off his Tiny Spark Single. And the second is a personal favorite of mine off his very first album, but if my memory is correct I don't even think it made the final cut, so it is quite rare. As I said before he has a handful of shows here in the US and if your in the ATL area around Dec. 11th, then I will see you there!
