Let's just cut to the chase, these guys take care of business when it comes to blues-rock.Period! The boys are from Akron, Ohio, but are filled with Mississppi blues, with heavy influence by Junior Kimbrough. The Black Keys are just what the doctor ordered.....and this doctor ordered all you can eat blues. Hope ya'll are hungry!
We sometimes get a little carried away here in the kitchen, and we tend to get lost in the dance music. So consider this post my apology, and hopefully I can make up for it with some fresh new jamz. The first one coming off the debut album from Blakroc, "Coochie" features Ludacris and the late great 'Ol Dirty Bastard. If you are not familiar with Blakroc, it is basically Dan Auerbach & Patrick Carney of The Black Keys laying down some sweet bluesy/guitar beats. Yes thats right Hip Hop! The Black Keys are known for thier blues-rock sound, but on this album they team up with some Hip-Hop legends to produce an absolute must listen for the newbies out there. We did a post last year on the album before it came out, so here is a little taste of what you've been missing. The second track comes off Raekwon's newest album Onle Built for Cuban Linx II. The song "Black Mozart" is produced by none other that the RZA. So sit back, get your dutchmasters ready, and don't forget to check out WellFed Boy @ UNF Skatepark on Feb. 20th. And if you can't make it during the day, the after party is @ Landshark Cafe. See you there...
That's right, you read the title correctly. Exclusive news in the music world. The blues duo known as The Black Keys just announced that they will be releasing a hip-hop album under the name Blakroc. The self titled album is due out November 27th and will be featuring the likes of..... Mos Def Q-tip RZA Raekwon Ludacris Jim Jones and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard.
Blakroc will be produced by the duo as well as help from Jim Jones and Damon Dash. I know what your thinking, Jim Jones? The same guy who had ever popular sports anthem "Ballin". Well for sake of The Black Keys I sure hope he's come along after that. But the reputation that The Black Keys have on me, I'm sure this album will be nothing short of spectacular. The track list is as followed:
1. Coochie 2. On The Vista 3. Hard Times 4. Dollaz & Sense 5. Why Can’t I Forget Him 6. Stay Off The F*%$#n’ Flowers 7. Ain’t Nothing Like You 8. Hope You’re Happy 9. Tellin’ Me Things 10. What You Do To Me 11. Done Did It
