Quiet Numbskulls, I'm Broadcasting

Today's special includes an assortment of fine tunes that should please any palette, and I'm keepin it more on the hip hop side because I feel we might have gotten away from it as of late, but I'm here to bring some more of the leaner cuts to ya. I like to keep my menu organized with a sense of variety, because we all can't be into just one type of music, we must broaden our horizons, and look for the beauty in all genre of music......right?

And today's special also includes a beautiful desert:

Hello Again Summer, You Were Missed

Summer is upon us, finals are over and its time for some funky tunes and cold beers. Without the added stress of papers and exams you should expect more music and updates on local events to attend here in sunny Jacksonville Beach. In fact, tomorrow night there will be a premiere release party for the new VOID Magazine. There will a free show at Roc Bar featuring DarkHorse Saloon and BLORR which is a guaranteed partay. I will be interviewing DHS, showing the men behind the mustaches. Should be a good time with beautiful people.

Now for the music. What better to start the summer off with than The Beach Boys. I have for you a couple of remixes of Beach Boy jams that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Two of which happen to be dance remixes that put a different spin to the classics. The other one is from Bullion's Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee, a Beach Boys/J-Dilla mash-up album. So crack open a cold one, get the lawn chair out and go outside and enjoy the day.

The Beach Boys- Wouldn't It Be Nice (The Girls Can Hear Us Remix)
Bullion- You Still Believe in Dee
The Beach Boys- Good Vibrations (Stanton Warriors Remix)

Just a Stones Throw Away

So I was going to post about one of my new favorite artist from Stones Throw, but it's hard to write about just one artist from the label. If you have never checked out the label, I suggest you do. Probably one of my favorite record labels because of their knack to seek out really good artist. First off we have Dam-Funk, sort of a rookie at the label, but still highly respected. He brings back the old California funk/groove sound and puts his modern touch on it. Something to get down to, maybe relax on saturday just soaking up life(a tleast thats how it makes me feel).

My second artist from the label is James Pants. He's been around for a while, but I just can't get enough of his album Welcome. I think it is absolutley brilliant and very well put together. Check out this track off the album:

Last but certaintly not least is my favorite artist signed to Stones Throw The Beat Kunducta: Madlib. Absolutly insane samples coming from this man on all of his albums, but actually the song isn't produced by Madlib at all. It was produced by none other than the late great J Dilla. The song come off the Jaylib album, which was a callab between the two. Straight up CLASSIC:

Enjoy!
