Little Wine, maybe a Little Rock...

It's that time of the season folks when we get down on some good 'ol fashioned rock 'n roll. The Freezer is stock full of appetizers, seafood, poultry and what not, but I just found some rock music that has been marinating since April. So since we are all about the business around here, let's get right to it. This salad bowl is sure to spark something, because i don't want you guys to ever forget just good music.

Why Can't We Make More Music Like This

This post is dedicated to my father whose birthday is tomorrow. Everything I know about music I owe to my dad. I grew up listening to rock n roll, specifically 60s garage, with my dad. He'd constantly would be teaching and quizing me on various bands, guitarist, and songs. Bands from this era rarely get thier time in the spotlight anymore and I think we ought to show some respect to this awesome period in rock history, where some of the greatest bands joined to create that oh so familiar sound. A sound that is rooted in the blues, and electrified with lyrics about love and freedom. Their are many bands that came out of the 60s, but these bands I believe truly capture the message I'm trying to convey.......which is, TURN UP THE AMP AND LET'S ROCK! Happy Birthday Dad.

The Yardbirds- Heart Full of Soul
The Kinks- Tired of Waiting for You
Cream- Swlabr

This Black Box Ain't On A Plane

This band from Belgium, known as The Black Box Revelation, is just what an indie/garage rock fan needs. BBR comes at a perfect time because the art of wailin' into a microphone while simultaneously playing fuzzy guitars has been lost for the moment. Well thank god for this revelation cause these dudes rock out! Their second album Silver Threats is out on PIAS and doing hardcore damage to all ears. Check out the couple of handpicked treasures that I chose.

The Black Box Revelation- High On A Wire
The Black Box Revelation- You Better get in Touch with the Devil

"The Nazz are Blue" -Yardbirds

I've recently been rediscovering my passion for 60s garage rock lately, and it brought me to a band that I'm very excited about. The are Nazz, from Philadelphia, headed by lead guitarist Todd Rundgren. Nazz are one of my personal favorite from the 60s, and a lot had to do with my father enlightening me at a very early age. Besides the obvious psychadelic fuzzy distorted guitars, my favorite band member has to be the drummer, Thom Mooney. This guy can play the drums, and I think you will see what I'm talking about in "Open My Eyes". Now we can't forget about Todd Rundgren, who is a legendary gurtarist and went on to a very prominent solo career. His sound is what really guided the group into what they are. They put out three albums in their short time together, but I can assure you their are some gemz on there. So to save you the trouble and time I've selected some top notch stuff from Nazz, all for you listening pleasure.

Nazz- Open My Eyes
Nazz- Forget All About It
Nazz- Under The Ice
