Pick up the Phone, It's BB

Since BB kicks off the North American leg of his tour I thought it would be appropriate to give my brother his long overdue post. That's right he is a part of the family, and I'll try not to be too bias, but the man can crank out some great music. Having just got married last month and a baby on the way, Brendan Benson comes to the other side of the pond to remind us of how rock music can still have a personal connection in our everyday lives. His voice is American and his songwriting speaks from the heart, making instant impressions on all of his fans. Having just released his 4th studio album, My Old Familiar Friend, BB continues to evolve as a musician and songwriter. I urge everyone to pick up a copy of the new album, and if you like what you here you can get his earlier album here.(personally I think they are a stable in any music lover's collection) Growing up in Detroit, MI and now living in Nashville, Brendan's music is deeply rooted in the rock city and I think it shows. The first song is a live version of a B-side off his Tiny Spark Single. And the second is a personal favorite of mine off his very first album, but if my memory is correct I don't even think it made the final cut, so it is quite rare. As I said before he has a handful of shows here in the US and if your in the ATL area around Dec. 11th, then I will see you there!

  1. Ditto! Me as a fan, fell in love the first time I listened to a BB song, it was so long ago that I cannot remember which one it was!. I think the lyrics aren't only American, they are universal ones! The tunes are excellent as well... Ones of the greatest! And I urge the people to listen to the new album too, it's a really good one. The one we all were waiting for, I was looking forward to listening to his new solo stuff and yeah, hell yes, he did it again! My Old familiar friend it's awesome! It got some of the best lyrics I heard since Dylan, what can I say about Garage day for example and what about the beautiful You make a fool out of me... and the hilarious one Don't wanna talk (the perfect song to use in some occasions....)
Anyway, congrats for the baby, great news!
You picked 2 great songs!!! I love Christy and especially the Spanish intro "les exhorto a que bailen" :D
